Easter Baskets always have more candy than I need hanging around. So, over the years we have developed ways to eliminate some of the candy, but still, keep the fun in the Easter baskets. *Sidenote: We DO give the kids some candy, we just try to keep it minimal.

One way we cut down is by throwing change–nickels, dimes, quarters, and pennies, along with a few “golden dollars” into the eggs.

We also add coupons or privileges into some of the eggs for added excitement. I love giving gifts of entertainment or promised future fun. The kids are left with something fun to look forward to. Sometimes anticipation can be half the fun of receiving a gift. The kids can redeem these at any time, as long as it doesn’t disrupt the family, we try to say yes! As soon as they present them to us, but sometimes it does have to be delayed a few days.
