Sharing bedtime stories isn’t what typically goes on here at Fairly Feminine but when the The Book Report invited me to be a special guest blogger, I couldn’t turn down this unique opportunity to merge my passion for clothing and style with one of my favorite books from childhood!

Summer is officially in full swing! As a parent, I know exactly what our summer days look like…eat, swim, nap, repeat…with sprinkles of summer reading lists, road trips and loose bed times. But do you ever find yourself wondering what the teachers are doing all summer long? As a child I was so curious about my teachers’ summer lives, especially about their wardrobe.

Did they let their toes show in flip flops? If they had a holiday pin for their sweaters, did that mean they had one for Fourth of July too? And did they (GASP) wear a bathing suit?!?!

As an adult I of course view teachers as the normal, every day adults that they are….well I actually view them as superheros who keep our future bright and put in the hardest 7 hours of anyone I know, but what I mean to say is, of course they wear flip flops and bathing suits! Teachers: they’re just like us!

But I decided to dive into my childhood curiosity a little further for this post, using one teacher in particular as my style muse. Someone who would grant us a sneak peek into her closet to see what she wears when she’s on some summer adventures and perhaps inspire us for our own summer wardrobes. Oh and did I mention this teacher is fictional? I knew immediately who I wanted to follow in both the realm of clothing and adventure. None other than The Magic Schoolbus’ own Ms. Frizzle!

After all, we’re talking about the woman who wears a dress and high heals while she ventures inside the human body and the bottom of the ocean floor!

When researching Ms. Frizzle’s would-be summer wardrobe, the first spot I hit was Anthropologie; my favorite store when searching for something unique and bright. This skirt is my own personal homage to Ms. Frizzle

I know what you’re thinking…Ms. Frizzle as the highlight of a style blog? Is this the makeover issue and she’s the “before”? On the contrary, folks, Ms. Frizzle’s prints and bright colors are right on trend this season. Dare I say, The Frizz is a trendsetter?

So as you snoop and browse some of my favorite finds in Ms. Frizzle’s closet, remember, I wasn’t only on the hunt for exotic prints and loud colors. My main focus was finding pieces that would make you (along with Ms. Frizzle) stand out in the best way. Pieces that will turn heads, garner compliments and make you feel your best!
